Worldwide Podcast with SG

ANNOUNCEMENT

1st Worldwide Podcast
with the Servant General

CFC-FFL will have its first ever worldwide meeting on the Internet. This will be on February 24 (Wednesday) at 8pm Manila time. The SG will talk about our life and mission, both in CFC-FFL and LCSC, and be available to clarify your questions. It will be for two hours, first for some teaching and other inputs, and then to answer your questions. Please see the links below.

These are critical times in the life of the Church and of the world, as we experience the incessant assaults on faith, family and life. We have been called and prepared for such a time. God is about a mighty work in the world today, and we are fortunate to be part of it. God has shown us the way to the New Evangelization, and how there can be true and widespread renewal in the world and in our Church.

But we need to be clear in what our call is, and how we are to properly respond to that call. As Jesus has said from the start, the harvest is rich but the laborers are few. We have been called to be those laborers. How have we responded? It should be made clear to you what the response ought to be. Then we can all move forward together according to God's call.

This is our first experiment, and depending on its usefulness and your support, there can be more to come. We can do this monthly, or whatever frequency seems best. There is much to be discussed and to be learned.

8-10pm Manila time was chosen to try to cater to the whole worldwide community across the time zones. The greatest challenge will be for our brethren on the West Coast of North America, when the podcast will start at 4am (not to mention Alaska at 3am), and to our brethren to the East in New Zealand, when it will be 1am. From then on it hopefully would be more convenient for everyone else in between -- 6am in Texas (USA), 7am in NY/NJ & Ecuador, 9am in Argentina, 12nn in Iceland & Ireland, 1pm in Italy & Austria, 2pm in Malawi, 3pm in Qatar, 4pm in UAE, 5:30pmin Goa (India), 7pm in Thailand & Vietnam, 10pm in Papua New Guinea, 11pm in Melbourne (Australia). Please check these times in reference to our start at 8pm in Manila. We start promptly.

God bless you all.

Lenten Retreat Update

Hello Brothers and Sisters,

Just an update regarding our Lenten Retreat on Feb.27th.

First, we would like to thank everyone for the tremendous response we got for this event. We have 170+ people and counting who have registered already.

However, according to bRuben Coson our Lenten Retreat Coordinator, the food caterers for this gathering can only accommodate lunch to 150 persons. So we would just like to inform everyone that if you will not make the cut-off of 150 you will still be included in the retreat but you will just have to get your own lunch elsewhere. There are establishments surrounding the area where you can eat though. Also, you will still need to pay $15 (half of registration fee) to help us cover the stipend costs for both priests and other incidental expenses for the retreat.

So to be fair, the first 150 people who will pay will be guaranteed a catered lunch (and breakfast pastries). As of now, only less than 100 people have paid so far.

So once again, please submit your payments asap to reserve your spot.

God bless,
bBarber Rabor

Valentines Fundraiser & Area Lenten Retreat

Hello Brethren,

Happy Ash Wednesday!

I would just like to push again our Valentines Fundraiser this Saturday, Feb.13th. So far, with three more days to go, we are still just getting close to our desired number of attendees. Once again, as I've mentioned before, if we are going to celebrate Valentines anyway with our spouse, parents, children (at least youth), friends, household members, etc. please really consider celebrating it with the rest of us and help generate the funds needed for our YFL & KFL. Our Couple-coordinators are really working hard to make this day of hearts truly a special occasion for all of us.

Here are the details:

Holiday Inn Express O'Hare
6600 N Mannheim Rd.
Rosemont, Il 60018
Saturday, February 13th
6pm-Midnight.
Cost: $40 Donation - Dinner/Party
Formal Attire, Free Parking.

Once again this is open to all, so bring more friends and family.

On another note, Lent season officially starts today. As prayerful servants of God, a time of reflection, contemplation, retreat, discernment and meditation is really of high importance in our spiritual journey. In Isaiah 55:1-3, it says that that there is a spiritual food that nourishes the inner man and fills one's life with abundance in a way that all of a person's material things cannot.

So with that, please join us also at our Area Lenten Retreat at:

National Shrine of St. Therese
8501 Bailey Road
Darien, Il 60561
St. Paul Hall
Saturday, February 27th
8am-3pm
Cost: $30 inclusive of Breakfast & Lunch

Yes there will be costs incurred again. But please do not let this hinder you from hearing God's message for us this lent. Let's be honest, we all spend on other stuffs anyway, (a nice meal here, a little buying there) so please let's not shortchange our God also.

Praying you'll receive this message in the spirit of love and service.

God bless,
bBarber

Valentines Fundraiser Party

Hello brothers and sisters,

It's February already. It means in less than two weeks it's our Valentines Fundraiser Party already. Anyway, I would just like to stress really the benefits of having a party such as this.

1. It's Valentine's Day

First and foremost, of course it's the day of hearts. We are going to celebrate it with our loved ones anyway. We are going to have a date and spend a little bit more to make this night a little special anyway, so why not celebrate this special occasion with the rest of our friends in the community. With the dinner cost at $40 only per person, we will probably spend more if we decide to go on a date elsewhere. Our party even comes with free entertainment and a lot of dancing (up to midnight). So money-wise our event has surely more value.

2. It's a Fundraiser

Not only we will actually spend lesser with the entertainment value that our event will have, proceeds from this party will go to our YFL (and also to our KFL). To simply put it, you are already having a date with your loved one, you will be having a great time dancing and at the same time you are also helping your child and his/her ministry. For the YFL, lessen their conference fees this year and for the KFL, more funds for their camps. It's actually a win-win-win thing.

3. It's Fellowship time

Per our "Growing in the Holy Spirit" CLS talk, of the 5 spokes that we need to grow personally and communally, surprisingly Fellowship is the one that is not so much taken advantage of. Prayer, we always do this privately and in our gatherings. Study, we get this in our household and assemblies. Service, we have our CLS and rallies. Sacraments, we get this in our Parish. But Fellowship, things we do with our other friends, officemates and relatives, we don't do so much with our brothers and sisters in the community. This is a perfect time to just have pure fun with them also.

4. It's an Evangelization opportunity.

Since we are inviting people that are not part or members of our community. This is the best time and place to invite for a CLS. Not to preach but to show them hey we know how to have fun also. When their guards are down since they are in a party or celebration mode, an invitation for a future CLS is best received by them. Hence, we will have more prospects for evangelization. In fact this is really a creative way of bringing them closer to us and hopefully join our community eventually.

So there you go brothers and sisters, with the benefits mentioned above: we save, we help fund, we have fun and we can help spiritually.

Why not go??

Let's all support our Valentines Fundraiser!!

Advanced Happy Valentines!!

God bless,
bBarber
